Delmarva Today: 2-26-21
Wilson’s guests on Delmarva Today are Professors Adam Wood and Maarten Pereboom. They discuss the nature of the humanities and the role they play in the development of our personal and national identity. Adam Wood is a professor in the English Department at Salisbury University and Maarten Pereboom is a professor of history and Dean of the Fulton School of Liberal Arts at the University.
This is the first of three special one-hour editions of Delmarva Today. The first of the series is to be broadcast tomorrow morning and the remaining two on the last Friday in March and April. The purpose of the series is to look at literature and the other humanities as a way of exploring our grasp of truth, positive critical thinking, acceptance of cultural diversity, empathy, personal identity, respect for others, honor, justice, and confidence in the future that have been so battered over the past four years. In the midst of this year-long pandemic and years of divisive political turmoil, what have we lost of confidence in ourselves and each other and how might the humanities help us regain a sense of normal equilibrium?
