Harold Wilson talks with former State Senator Gerald Winegrad about the waterborne diseases, particularly Vibrio Vulnificus and Mycobacterium marinum, in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. He represented the greater Annapolis area in the General Assembly for 16 years. He chaired the environment and Chesapeake Bay committee. Winegrad currently writes a commentary piece for the Sunday Capital on environmental issues as well as other subjects affecting the state of the Bay.

Winegrad has written extensively to inform and warn people around the Chesapeake Bay of the presence of these waterborne diseases leading to infections that can cause loss of limbs and life as microbes in these waterborne diseases attack human tissue. The failure to significantly reduce polluting nutrients from agriculture and other human activities fuels the growth and toxicity of these Bacteria.
