Delmarva Today 5-13-22

In December of last year Lyn Sutton joined Harold Wilson on Delmarva Today to talk about the Rock Steady Boxing program and the importance of exercise in slowing the progression of the disease. Another important aspect of living with Parkinson’s is the availability of support for those diagnosed with the disease, their care givers, spouses and other family members. Jack Harrald joins Harold Wilson on this episode to discuss the Mid-Shore Parkinson’s Disease Support Group and the role they play in supporting those living with the disease. In conjunction with Johns Hopkins University, support provided by the group includes, educational seminars followed by time for sharing. Seminar topics comprise research updates, treatment options, coping skills, alternative therapies, diet and exercise information, and more.

In addition to coordinating the Mid-Shore Parkinson’s Disease Support Group along with Kate Boland, Jack serves as a member of the Johns Hopkins University Movement Disorder Center’s Patient Advisory Board.

According to the Parkinson’s Foundation, nearly one million people in the U.S. are living with Parkinson’s disease and the number is expected to rise to 1.2 million by 2030. More than 10 million people worldwide are living with the disease. Tune in and listen to Jack discuss the impact the disease has had on his life, and his work with the Mid-Shore Parkinson’s Disease Support Group.
